Burbank, CA – Burbank Singing Star, a children’s singing contest produced by the Kiwanis Club of Burbank and local music school, The Music Junction, welcomed 36 contestants, and over 500 attendees, to their 2nd annual event. The event was held at Luther Burbank Middle School, and also included a outdoor family festival with activities, vendors, and food trucks.
“This was our 2nd annual Burbank Singing Star,” said Master of Ceremonies and event creator, Charissa Wheeler of The Music Junction, “I couldn’t have been happier with the finalists’ incredible performances, and all the fun our team created in the outdoor festival!”
Burbank Singing Star featured celebrity and industry judges
Each finalist performed a 1-minute singing excerpt, and received feedback on their performance from celebrity judges, including Rydel Lynch from the band R5, High School Musical producer Andrew Lane, Peggi Blu from American Idol, Grammy’s Producer Chantel Sausedo, Warner Bros. VP Phylicia Fant, and Anthony Federov, from the 4th season of American Idol.
The winners for the 5-9 age group were:
- 1st place: Elizabeth Masnour
- 2nd place: Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja
- 3rd place: Alyssa Proffitt
The winners for the 10-14 age group were:
- 1st place: Bridget Barrera
- 2nd place: Nancy Fifita
- 3rd place: Makana Say
Bridget Barrera, winner of the 10-14 age group, said, “Taking part in Burbank Singing Star was a great honor and winning was just amazing!”
The 1st place winners in each division received a Grand Prize package that included a full length Flychord piano keyboard, songwriting lessons at The Music Junction, a recording studio session, and headshots from Photography as an Art.

Cynthia Faust, former President of the Kiwanis Club of Burbank, said of the event, “Kiwanis loves children, and this outstanding opportunity to allow children a venue through Burbank Singing Star to share their talents and gain confidence has been an amazing success. Through the efforts of the Kiwanis Club of Burbank and The Music Junction, we are also able to create charitable funds to help children and families in the community. This is a win-win opportunity for the youth and families of Burbank.”
The select finalist line-up for young singers ages 5-9 included: Paige Allen, Sasha Geller, Elodie Burdine, Anjali Singh, Suri Almasi, Kayleigh Lund, Sienna Skye Lay, Cienna Cruz Guevara, Zoe Hendelman, Brennyn Violet Leath, Julienne Vernice Equila, Lucy Bluebell Evans, and Emily Anahit Chamichya.
Other talented finalists selected for the 10-14 age group included: Emma Russell, Maxine Sutton, Lenna Mor, Allayna Slate, Miranda Sanchez, Christina Kimmins, Noah Semsen, Tucker Brown, Megan Olivia Stott, Jillian Flynn, Jaylen Harvey, Alexa Ruiz, Alexis Grace Adair, Alexandra Hammock, Morea Manson, and Isabella Ingvarsson.
Burbank Singing Star is an annual event that raises money for local charities. This year’s beneficiary is the music programs in the Burbank Unified School District.
