Burbank, CA – Leadership Burbank and the Burbank Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidates Forum featuring all eight City Council candidates at the Colony Theatre, located on North Third Street in Downtown Burbank. The forum provides an opportunity for Burbank residents to meet and interact with their City Council candidates, and to learn about their respective platforms heading into the February Primary. The forum will take place on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 7pm, and is free and open to the public.
The upcoming election may have special significance for Burbank. “With the projected shortfall over the next few years in the City’s General Fund, we think the 2017 election is particularly important,” said Chamber CEO, Tom Flavin. “In the recent past, we have co-sponsored the forum with Leadership Burbank and look forward to doing so again this year.” Leadership Burbank Board President, Mike Thomas, concurred, “To possibly be a City Council member is the height of leadership in our City, and we feel that this forum is an important format to inform the community about our future leadership.”
The Forum will feature all eight candidates, including incumbents Mayor Jess A. Talamantes, former mayors Bob Frutos and David Gordon, as well as candidates Sharon Springer, Richard G. Carr, Gregory R. Sousa, Juan Guillen, and Konstantine Anthony. The discussion will be moderated by David Nos, former President of the Burbank Chamber of Commerce Board and former member of the Burbank Board of Education.
