Verdugo Jobs Center to host 2nd Annual Tech Job Fair

Glendale, CA – The Verdugo Jobs Center will be hosting its 2nd Annual Tech Job Fair at the newly renovated Downtown Central Library in Glendale, CA on October 12, 2017 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. This Glendale Tech Week event provides a platform for companies to interview and hire technology skilled job seekers. Last year’s event attracted over 300 job seekers.

The Verdugo Jobs Center has been at the forefront of industry sector trends and has spearheaded numerous projects that have assisted local communities and businesses with workforce needs. For example, the Rapid Response program, is a layoff aversion initiative. There are also employer reimbursement programs such as On the Job and Incumbent Worker Training which have assisted employers train and retain their workforce thereby saving jobs and saving employer’s money. The VWDB/VJC also employs career counselors who utilize economic forecasting and projection tools to advise customers about in demand occupations, viable career pathways and assist with job placement assistance via job development and on-site employer recruitment.

The VJC is administered by the Verdugo Workforce Development Board (VWDB) which is a dynamic mix of stakeholders who are invested in the economic vibrancy of the Glendale, Burbank and LaCanada Flintridge areas.  Local business leaders, community organizers, and administrators in the education, union and government sectors meet monthly to drive initiatives that leverage resources and build partnerships at the local, regional and State level.  These strategic partnerships ensure that those within VWDB’s service area and beyond benefit from programs that assist businesses grow while building a robust workforce.
