Mimi’s Misadventure to screen at Burbank International Film Festival

September 6, 2017

Burbank, CA – Mimi’s Misadventure, a short film by Ashley Atwood and R.D. Womack II, will screen at the Burbank International Film Festival. The film will screen as part of the Comedy / New Media selection at 10:30pm on Thursday, September 7th, 2017, in Theatre 11. The Burbank International Film Festival runs from September 6th through September 10th 2017 at the AMC 16 in Downtown Burbank. Tickets for the screening may be purchased on the Festival website.

Mimi’s Misadventure is a tongue-in-cheek dark comedy that follows Mimi, a former prostitute and heroin addict who is down on her luck. While working at her job in a strip club, Mimi overhears a conversation that can change her life, forever.

The film has already won two awards: Best Narrative Short at the Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood, and Best Short Film at MedFF. Cast member, Angela Nordeng, was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Playhouse West Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Mimi’s Misadventure was co-created by Ashley Atwood and R.D. Womack II. Ashley is an actress and producer, also known for her work on The Bronx Bull, The Veil, and Suicide Notes. She graduated from Kilgore College in 2002, and from Texas A&M University in 2008. R.D. Womack II is a director known for his gritty and artistic taste, leaning heavily on dramatic character pieces and dark comedy. R.D.’s other credits include Call of the Wolf and the upcoming In This Gray Place.
