Sherman Oaks, CA – The United Chambers of Commerce of the San Fernando Valley and Region Government Affairs Committee adopted a resolution supporting the City of Los Angeles’ proposal to have Amazon establish its second North American headquarters in the West San Fernando Valley.
The City of Los Angeles is responding to Amazon’s RFP for a site to host their second North American Headquarters. The Warner Center in the West San Fernando Valley is considered one of the leading candidate sites in Los Angeles. Supporters note the Warner Center’s proximity to major transportation corridors and public transit, several major universities, and extensive array of existing businesses and amenities ready to support Amazon’s employees as members of their community.
The Government Affairs Committee noted that the Warner Center is currently under consideration for redevelopment, and is one of the few, if not the only, location in Los Angeles truly capable of supporting Amazon’s infrastructure requirements. The Committee also noted the potential boost to the economy created by the thousands of new jobs created by the arrival of Amazon in the West San Fernando Valley.
Following discussion, the motion passed unanimously.
The United Chambers of the San Fernando Valley and Region is a coalition of 32 business organizations including 18 Member Chambers, representing over 21,000 businesses that provide over 387,000 jobs. United Chambers deals with Valley-wide, County-wide and Regional issues and promotes the San Fernando Valley’s overall welfare, progress and economic prosperity.
