Burbank, CA – Dave, a short film by Shawn Lebert and Seth Johnson, will screen at the Burbank International Film Festival. The film will screen as part of the Horror / Thriller Shorts selection at 9:30pm on Saturday, September 9th, 2017. The Burbank International Film Festival runs from September 6th through September 10th 2017 at the AMC 16 in Downtown Burbank. Tickets for the screening may be purchased on the Festival website.
Dave begins when Detective James Reinhardt (PJ Marshall, Underground and Luke Cage) rushes to his brother’s home after hearing the news of his death. Turmoil begins between Reinhardt and Detective Samantha Trace (Anne Leighton, Grimm) when their differing perspectives collide over the personal tragedy. While Samantha believes that the clues are pointing to suicide, James is adamant for homicide. Reinhardt can only weave a web of family history to defend his stance when the evidence doesn’t support him. However, the unconventional begins to occur when they investigate further, understanding that the incident is far greater than they could have ever imagined.

Dave was directed, written, and produced by Shawn Lebert. Shawn attended Savannah College of Art and Design and received a Bachelors in Film & Television. Since then, he’s been most notably working in post-production as an editor. Dave is Shawn’s first major short film, where he directed, co-wrote, executive produced and edited. He continues to work as a director/writer and equally passionate for both film and television, hoping to produce in both mediums. He’s an admirer of the psychological and thriller genres.
Dave was written and produced by Seth Johnson, who also served as the Director of Photography. Seth received his Masters in Cinematography at the American Film Institute. While most of his focus is around directing photography, he also has an unwavering sense of love for story and characters. He’s also worked as a cinematographer on award winning feature films and TV.
